This Privacy Policy explains how Forward Labs Inc. ("Forward Labs," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects personal information through our website. We keep this policy in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, contact us at hello@forwardlabs.ca.
Who we are
Forward Labs is a design and technology studio based in Ontario, Canada. This policy applies to our marketing website and the forms on it.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you submit our help or contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the description of your request. We only collect what you choose to enter.
Information collected automatically. We use PostHog to understand how visitors use our site, so we can improve it. PostHog uses cookies and similar technologies stored on your device to record usage data such as the pages you view, the actions you take on the site, your general device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This data is used to understand site performance and behaviour and to improve the experience. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
We do not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers.
Why we collect it
We use the information above to:
- Respond to requests you submit through our forms.
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website and its performance.
- Understand which content and services are useful to visitors.
We rely on your consent to collect and use this information. Submitting a form is your consent to us using that information to respond to your request. You can withdraw consent at any time (see "Your choices" below).
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing by others.
We use a small number of service providers to run our site, and they process data on our behalf under agreements that limit them to that purpose:
- PostHog processes our website analytics.
- We may use an email service provider to receive and respond to form submissions.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
Where your data is stored
Some of our service providers, including PostHog, store and process data on servers located in the United States. When your data is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access requests by its authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. We retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, where we are required to retain data to comply with applicable laws), to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements and policies.
We also retain usage data for internal analysis. Usage data is generally kept for a shorter period, except where it is used to strengthen the security or improve the functionality of our site, or where we are legally required to retain it for longer.
Your choices and rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to our use of it.
To make any of these requests, email us at hello@forwardlabs.ca. We will respond within a reasonable time. There is no cost for a standard request.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our website is intended for a business audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
